A young extreme metal band from France, Praïm Faya's music is harsh and melodic, driven by devastating energy and rage. Their songs are fueled as much by the vibrations of metalcore or death metal as by limpid acoustic guitar parts. After their first EP, "Native", they released their first album, "Abyss of a Light Planet", a thematic extension of the EP. Follow us into an unfathomable abyss of dazzling brilliance to discover music that heralds the apocalypse.

Praïm Faya embodies a god of dark power, illuminating "Abyss Of A Light Planet" with bittersweet melodies and emotion. Against a back of sometimes classic metalcore structures, the band takes the listener by storm with acoustic interludes ('The Forge'), sculpting a journey to lands where sensuality and technical effusions mingle ('Peregrinarion', 'Aube'). Praïm Faya goes straight to the heart and brain with their racy tracks, leaden riffs and precise set-ups. The guitars, architects of these sonic cathedrals, are punchy and technical, without ever going overboard, confusing or boring. The solitary six-string passages are subtle, simple and beautiful, tickling the spine with a fiery shiver.

Beautiful instrumental passages lighten the songs and distill frank emotions. The album can be savored like a novel, with each song a chapter linked by a common theme. There's never a dull moment, perhaps because it's so coherent and solid, or perhaps because of the juxtapositions of divine acoustic passages ('Peregrinarion'), thick riffs ('Lethe'), percussive drums or infernal screams from the abyss ('Magnitude'). Whatever the style, coating or appellation, only the melodies remain, the essence and foundation of the tracks.

"Abyss of a Light Planet" is a highly successful record, astonishing and surprising, a veritable breath of energy, gentleness and technique. Without fuss or bluster, Praïm Faya delivers a sincere, spirited album with effective, varied compositions and multiple moods. To be discovered urgently!

ANY GIVEN SIN: War Within (2023)
HARD ROCK - Well-realized and far from uninteresting, "War Within" nevertheless lacks variety in a style that has been tried and tested over and over again.
THE STRUTS: Strange Days (2020)
ROCK - "Strange Days" proves to be the best antidote to the pandemic, and firmly establishes The Struts at the pinnacle of rock for which UK borders are far too narrow.
