"Medevil sign here a varied record. "Mirror In The Darkness" starts from a Thrash base to open up to progressive influences, and the result is very convincing."

Hailing from Chilliwack, Canada, Medevil started their career in 2014. Their first album was released in 2016 and the band began to scour the stages of their country. After a break, they are back with "Mirror In The Darkness" with the ambition to make a name for themselves outside their borders. It should be noted that since the recording of this album, the band has had the pain of losing its drummer, Chris Malcomson. The album is dedicated to him.

Medevil starts from a Thrash base and opens up to other styles, developing long tracks to make the atmosphere evolve. 'Dead Before Birth', 'The Signal' and 'No Rest In Peace' are on the fringe of progressive with a technical, airy and deep side reminiscent of Mastodon and a touch of melancholy that blends with a heavier power close to Metal Church. The strong point comes from Liam, capable of going from a very low screamed vocal to a catchy clear vocal.

On the Heavy Thrash tracks, Liam is impressive. His colleagues throw power without neglecting the melodic aspects and the epic side sounds like a cross between Accept and Nevermore. When Medevil becomes more melodic, the music offers a nice touch of melancholy and a pinch of heavy. 'Veiled' has even a Pop feel, the synth is well heard and brings a wave-tinged melancholic side, surprising but successful.

With 'Mirror In The Darkness', Medevil sign a very convincing album by its capacity to mix styles with intelligence. With such an album, the Canadians have all the arguments to make themselves widely known and to satisfy a varied audience.

JIRFIYA: W (2023)
PROGRESSIVE METAL - Jirfiya densify its music moving towards a more progressive metal and offers a vocal prestation even more refined. These qualities make this "W" his best album so far.
25 YARD SCREAMER: Nemesis (2022)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - This "Nemesis" of 25 Yard Screamer is a new disappointment, the band still struggling to distinguish itself from its models.
