In recent years, new melodic hard rock combos have been popping up at Frontiers like mushrooms in autumn. Associating musicians from its own stable, the Italian label feeds itself a herd that is constantly growing. Ginevra is now part of it and signs for its arrival in the transalpine constellation a "We Belong To The Stars" which seems tempting considering the protagonists engaged in the adventure.
The fans of the genre know the talent of Jimmy Jay (H.E.A.T.), Magnus Ulfstedt (Eclipse) and Magnus Karlsson (The Ferrymen), but they may not have had the opportunity to hear Kristian Fyhr, the excellent singer of Seventh Crystal, author of a remarkable first opus last year. He is the one who gave birth to this new band: he is the composer of the initial pieces of the work sent to the label to use them in one of his future projects - he knows what appeals to the fans of the style. His sidekicks come with their skills, often bringing a heavy touch to the melodic hard rock offered.
This album is a receptacle of powerful and melodic hits. The first singles proposed by Ginevra reflect very exactly the content of the object, and 'Siren's Calling' is an archetype of it: the introductory keyboards give way to a wave of overpowering riffs promising a devastating chorus full of chorus, perfect illustration of what defines today the Nordic melodic hard rock. 'Unbreakable', which follows, belies the idea that the opening track is the best built to lure the crowd; with its beautiful melodies, feather-light keyboards, killer solo and relentless rhythm, it deserves the top spot on the podium. 'Break The Silence' immediately brings us back to Eclipse with its characteristic perfume coming from the cold lands, scents of which we can't get enough.
Ginevra has succeeded with this first album. Will they manage to themselves in the circle of Scandinavian combos that are well established despite the profusion of candidates? It will be necessary for that, at least, to release a second opus of the same quality as this promising "We Belong To The Stars"... - Official website
