"Megadeth confirms its renewed form. "The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead!" is an explosive cocktail with many moments of thrash bravery and well-crafted melodies."

"Dystopia" was a miracle, Megadeth found verve and desire. The record had made us forget the ocean of mediocrity of the previous records. By recruiting Kiko Loureiro, Dave Mustaine made an excellent choice: the chemistry between the two men was perfect. The band has been on the road, and as time went by, it was tempting to think that there would be no follow-up to "Dystopia". Dave Mustaine proved this prognosis wrong and relaunched the machine with a sixteenth album, "The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead!

Recorded over more than three years, the release of the record was delayed by the pandemic but also because of distribution and line-up problems. If Loureiro is still there, it is not the case of Dave Ellefson, fired during 2021 and whose bass parts were redone by Steve Di Giorgio. At his side, we find Dirk Verbeuren on drums.

The record is an orgy of soli and riffs thrown by a duo in great shape. Loureiro and Mustaine have fun and multiply the moments of bravery. The short titles are fireworks which slap the listener. The rhythm is intense, Mustaine appears in great shape with this hoarse grain that suits him so well, especially on direct, effective choruses. On the drums Verbeuren does a great job and is a fundamental element in the success of the tracks by striking with an impressive strength and speed.

More researched by proposing melodic breaks and heavy passages, 'The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead!' and 'Night Stalkers', on which the intervention of Ice T on vocals brings a nervous side, give the spin. 'Dogs Of Chernobyl' is a superb track with a calm and melancholic beginning with catchy melodies before exploding on an apocalyptic thrash finale.

"The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead!" confirms the artistic health of Megadeth. In spite of its length, the record never tires by alternating intelligently the ambiences. It confirms that with this line-up Mustaine finds the verve of his glory years. It pays itself a new youth which seemed improbable not so long ago.

Le meilleur depuis 25 ans ! Pas de grosses baisses de régime et une belle brochette de titres forts dans la plus pure tradition Megadeth. Une vraie belle et bonne surprise !
