Hailing from Calgary, the Canadians of Hammerdrone have been working since 2010 in a melodic death metal with black metal sounds. They are already the authors of an EP and two albums and are back with a new three track EP, "A Trinity Of Rage". Far from being a simple appetizer, the EP, mixed by Jens Borgen who worked with Amon Amarth, Rotting Christ or Borknagar, is conceptual and deals with the destruction of heaven. It is accompanied by a short story, "Eversor", that the band recommends to read before listening.
The three tracks form a trilogy. The first part, 'Part I - Rage, Corporeal', is short and savage with a hysterical growl and a tone mixing melodic death worthy of the beginnings of At The Gates with an intense black metal rage. 'Part II - Rage, Besieged' is the main course. For more than ten minutes, Hammerdrone alternates epic and majestic black, furious death and gothic melodies worthy of a Cradle Of Filth. The result is remarkable and endowed with a great mystical force. With 'Part III - Rage, Consummated', the band offers a tasty dessert with a melancholic beginning before throwing an impressive charge of power between black and death metal. In the middle of the fury some melodic and atmospheric flashes bring a good catchy side in the spirit of Tiamat.
With "A Trinity Of Rage", Hammerdrone signs an EP of great quality. He confirms his facility to mix black and melodic death. With such a bomb in hand, the Canadians have everything to make a name for themselves. - Official website
