"With "Zeitgeister", Caliban offers a new reading of his songs in his native language. The result is efficient and should delight the fans of a powerful metalcore that knows how to leave room for melodies."

Caliban confirmed with "Elements" that they were still one of the bosses of the metalcore scene, present since the beginning and far from wanting to give up to the new generation. Three years later, the band is back with "Zeitgeister". Its particularity is that it is not a new album of the Germans but rather an improved best of with a singular story.
After the success of his cover of 'Sonne' by his compatriots Rammstein, Caliban wanted to revisit his own songs in German. The album contains seven rearranged tracks and one unreleased track as a bonus. The main interest comes from the vocals and on this plan Andreas Dörner has done a great job. He has totally revised his vocal parts and the result is convincing. There is a natural side as if German was the basic language of the tracks.
'Trauma', which features Matthi from the band Nasty, is tinged with hardcore and neo metal. On many tracks we find the typical metalcore cocktail, a clever mix of power and unstoppable melodies, with a mastered clear vocal bringing an effective catchy side (with 'Herz', 'Feuer, Zieh' 'Nichts ist für Immer', 'Mein Inferno'). But the band gets meaner on 'Intoleranz', a missile tinged with indus; the title imposes by its martial choirs and a remarkable chorus. The unreleased 'nICHTS' has a martial and aerial force worthy of Rammstein, mixing ambiences with a strong melodic side and clear vocals.
"Zeitgeister" is a nice gift from Caliban to their fans. It shows a confident band, very comfortable in their native language and allows to find the essence of the metalcore sound. This parenthesis will allow the fans to wait for a real new album... - Official website
