Sol Draconi Septem is a trio from Nantes whose draws its inspiration from Dan Simmons' monumental work, a set of four books that are among the most accomplished in contemporary science fiction. The band has made it its raison d'être and the corpus imagined by the American novelist is so rich that there is easily enough to fill a large quantity of records.

Sol Draconi Septem is  ambitious by the very nature of his music, whose burgeoning character proves to be in perfect adequacy with the powerfully evocative material that serves as its foundation. The use of the saxophone is not the least illustration of this dazzling audacity coupled with a real freedom. Rather rare in black metal, the recourse to this instrument generally has the effect of illuminating and transcending the compositions which welcome it, what testifies from the start 'The Man Who Cried God' as devastating as tearing. Multi-dimensional drums and vocalizations with multiple tessituras, in turn clear, screamed or more bitter, participate in this mesh of an extreme density.

Let us mention finally the presence of several guests who came to lend a hand to the trio. The bassist Sven Vinat (Belenos, Himinbjorg), who also took care of the mixing and mastering, as well as the singers A.K. (Decline Of The I) and Bornyhake (Borgne), the first one springing up at the bend of 'The War Lovers', the second one, on 'The Avatar', came to enrich this first try that the band took care of in the slightest details. With an insolent mastery, "Hyperion" embarks us for a cosmic journey, sometimes at the borders of electronic music ('The Long Goodbye'), darkly heady ('I Remember Siri') but always of a dazzling beauty ('The Pilgrims'). The album has something of a sonic and emotional labyrinth where overlap like tectonic plates immersive black metal and indus.

Cloudy and clear, dark and bright, disturbing and upsetting, "Hyperion" launches Sol Draconi Septem's career under the best auspices. Entirely devoted to Dan Simmons' matrix work, the concept that presides over the band's destiny promises other albums of at least equal richness that we are now waiting for with an unbearable impatience.

MELODIC METAL - "Curse Of Autumn" is a beautiful record of melodic metal, catchy, relatively balanced and diverse, but also brilliantly executed.
