This band from the prefecture of the Vosges comes here with its second album, which follows a "Pub's Calling" that we had not had the pleasure to discover when it was released in 2016, and which should not go unnoticed. To give you an idea of the interest of this record, it is already enough to point out that the band has caught the attention of Rudy Lenners (ex Scorpions) who has decided to produce this "Only Stronger" that we will present to you now.
And since we are talking about production, it is essential to point out that it is massive and powerful, giving each instrument the place it deserves. Good because the drums played by Boub Tchak show a rare variety, technique and dynamism that bring an unstoppable groove to some tracks ('No Escape','Soulbrothers'). Robin Rob's bass crushes everything in its path and the pair of guitars follow one another with killing riffs and bright soli, especially Yan Pierrat who will attract the attention of specialists. Dividing between the six-string and the microphone, Greg Hall also offers an impressive vocal performance, able to use a palette ranging from a soft and almost pop song (''Til The Stars'') to heart-breaking power-metal screams (' Rivals').
Listening to the 10 bombs of this "Only Stronger", we find a little bit of brit-pop (''Til The Stars'' and its surprising saxophone solo), Scandinavian sleaze and US glam (' Come On In'), heavy southerners close to Black Stone Cherry ('No Escape','Only Stronger' and its banjo intro), power metal close to Pantera ('Bad Man'), or stoner ('Do We Have A Deal?), all this mixing within the different titles and allowing the whole to be as varied as it is coherent. Add to that some very catchy choruses, some well-sung breaks and virile and you get an album that will make your beer-drunk buddies' parties as happy as they will be on highways at sunset.
With such a record, Dog'n'Style should get the recognition it deserves. By offering an opus of formidable efficiency without taking itself seriously and by succeeding in remaining coherent while mixing genres, the quartet sets itself on the path to a success that opens its arms wide. Not to be missed under any circumstances! - Official website
