The British magazine Rock'n Reel calls Ramage Inc. "Scotland's best kept secret". And in fact, the band founded in 2012 in Edinburgh by producer, singer and guitarist Bryan Ramage has gone completely unnoticed out of his frontiers until now. It is therefore high time to repair this injustice because the Scots' third album, "Under The Skin", is a true revelation.

Ramage Inc has two main influences: Devin Townsend and Alice In Chains. On paper, the marriage of two such different styles can be perplexing. And yet the union of the rough guitars inherited from grunge and the symphonic power of progressive metal makes "Under The Skin" an album of a rare melodic density that immediately wins over the audience thanks to the quality of its compositions and the complex dynamics of the tracks.

Ramage Inc. plays with musical textures with a rare technical mastery and a sense of rhythmic setting that is truly hallucinating ('Overload'). The band alternates heavy and unstoppable riffs ('Under The Skin', 'Rhino', 'Rain', 'Strive') with atmospheric ('Pale Blue Note') and symphonic ('Alone') ambiences, while skillfully playing on the contrasts between melodies and dissonances ('Flames'). But above all, Ramage Inc. is confident in its music and lets it breathe thanks to a very organic production that subtly highlights the singular universe of the Scots. Many titles include long instrumental tracks which reveal the exceptional technique of the musicians, while remaining perfectly coherent with the musical purpose ('Journey To Peace', 'Flood'). Thus the powerful voice of Bryan Ramage becomes with the wire of the compositions an instrument in itself, transcended by choruses sometimes tribal ('Blood Is Burning Red'), sometimes martial ('Journey To Peace') which contribute marvelously to the dark lyricism of the opus.

Powerful, complex, mastered, "Under The Skin" is a bewitching progressive grunge album to be listened to in one go in order to grasp all its richness and coherence. Ramage Inc. reveals itself to be a band with a very assertive style whose music greatly deserves to cross the Highlands to arrive in the ears of the most demanding listeners. To be discovered urgently!
