After a first album very well received by the critics and the public, and after a tour which saw the band getting stronger and stronger during the concerts, Masterplan had to transform the trial with a second album. Obviously, Masterplan reminds us with Aeronautics that experience and talent, used wisely, are terribly efficient. And this, in only two titles.
First of all, there is this terrible opening track, "Crimson Rider", slightly speed, powerful, with a huge and incredibly catchy chorus, which immediately takes us by the throat. Then, there is "Back For My Life", a power ballad which has openly for mission to gather new fans with its melodies and its easily memorable chorus. So obviously, there are the first two unstoppable tracks of Aeronautics, but the album contains several other little gems, like the very speedy "Wounds", the beautiful ballad "After This War", the melodic "Falling Sparrow" or the amazing "Black In The Burn".
On the other hand, Jorn continues to impose his talent. He illuminates this album by his strength and his inimitable voice. Very far from the singers who scream more than they sing, he knows how to be melodic, far from any excess. The second asset is the new coherence and the chemistry of the musicians. We are dealing with a real band and at no time do we feel that one of the musicians takes precedence over his mates.
No crazy solos of Grapow, nor sophisticated drumming of Uli Kusch on this release, no show-off nor technicality, everything is focused on efficiency. Despite a certain lack of risk, Aeronautics remains a sure value of Melodic Heavy Metal. But with such experienced and talented musicians, who could have doubted it? - Official website
