"The very open and direct style of Shadow Gallery in this "Legacy" will only delight the amateurs of progressive metal."

With this fourth album, Shadow Gallery detaches itself a little more from its previous productions to enter right into a technical and terribly effective progressive metal. Keeping what has always characterized them, namely very quickly catchy melodies, they have on this "Legacy" enormously enriched their music. When you compare this album to its little brother "Tyranny", the evolution seems impressive.
First of all, the vocals have become much more expressive and they have the luxury to change their register according to the atmosphere. It can be so low and rocky or go in the highs. It is to note the importance that the chorus has in all the pieces.
Then, from the musical point of view, with an amazing instrumental and sound richness. It will take you many listenings before you know the sequences and movements. The last track is a perfect example of this, being no less than 30 minutes long. The synthetic or acoustic parts, soothing and calm, are far from being equal to the numerous and extraordinary fast and energetic guitar or keyboards soli, but they often allow you to breathe a little before starting again.
The strength of "Legacy" comes from Shadow Gallery's ability to propose a technical content without falling into exhibition as it is often the case. The references when listening to this opus are very numerous and come from recent bands as well as older ones. It will happen quite often that you will say to yourself "But where did I already hear that" (look for Pink Floyd and Dream Theater).
"Legacy" is simply essential for any progressive metal fan. Their style, very open and direct, will only enchant you and you will end up, like all those who have listened to this band, by grumbling that a new album is a bit too long to come. - Official website
