Lionville is the project of the Italian composer, singer and guitarist Stefano Lionetti. Associated with Alessandro Del Vecchio, the vocalist and keyboards man of Edge Of Forever, he offers us, with this eponymous album featuring a few distinguished guests, a little treat made in AOR/FM/Rock Melodic.
Inspired in turn by a few masters of the genre we'll talk about later, the man has invited to the party a few partners who know how to play. Indeed, besides Lars Säfsund, the frontman of Work Of Art, we have Arabella Vitanc, the new singer of Alyson Avenue's, Bruce Gaitsch, guitarist of King Of Heart, Erik Mårtensson the voice of Eclipse, Steve Larsson the six-stringed man of Last Autumn's Dream and Tommy Denander that we don't present anymore in the world of AOR/FM.
All the ingredients of the Melodic Rock are present here: a sound of an impressive purity, chiselled guitars, an atmosphere full of emphasis, refined melodies and of course some sweet songs. In this Lionville, it's very simple, there's nothing to throw away, we have here indeed to do with a perfect score!
The successes follow one another in an incessant whirlwind, notably with the entry title "Here By My Side" which smells like W.E.T. followed by the enormistic "With You" and "Centre Of My Universe" more Toto than Toto. We have then "Thunder In Your Heart", a thunderous cover of a John Farnham song close to Survivor, "World Without Your Love", a ballad a la Richard Marx, "Power Of My Dreams" which reminds us of the melodic spirit of Last Autumn's Dream, the very West Coast "No End In Sight", the galvanizing "The Chosen Ones", duet with Arabella Vitanc, "Over And Over Again" the second ballad of the opus, "Dreamhunter" (from Loverboy in infusion) and "Say Good Bye", the third ballad.
