"A sort of bridge between Soilwork and Opeth, Disillusion's "Back To Times Of Splendor" is an impressively masterful and original debut album."

Disillusion is a German band that has been making a name for himself in the underground scene and this year 2004 sees the release of their debut album: "Back To Times Of Splendor". And the least we can say is that it's going to make some noise!
It's hard to pin Disillusion down to a specific category: metal in general, progressive in approach and fusion in content. The band's complex riffs, varied and surprisingly masterful vocals and perfectly digested and unrecognizable inspirations make this a very special album. The singer-leader has perfect control over both death and clean vocals, and even goes so far as to draw inspiration from System Of A Down's Serj Tankian. But be warned: Disillusion is far from neo! Their music is much more reminiscent of the European scene, and of Sweden in particular, a sort of bridge between Soilwork and Opeth.
Light years away from the usual heavy or trash German metal, Disillusion distills music of rare complexity and beauty. The quiet moments are very intimate and bewitching, with piano and violin parts, while the real whirlwinds of sound like 'Fall' will take you into the deepest abyss. The incredibly groovy riff on this track is a real lesson in catchy but not phony music.
There's really no fault to be found with Disillusion. For a debut album, the result is simply astonishing in its mastery and originality. A band to follow ! - Official website
