RIVERSIDE: Out Of Myself (PROGRESSIVE ROCK): review / opinion to read on Music Waves

Even before listening to it, "Out Of Myself" is intriguing. What can you expect from a band that releases its first album under the aegis of a major label such as Sony Music Poland? What can we expect from a band whose members have been immersed in Progressive and Death Metal? And finally, what kind of music can we expect, knowing that the progressive movement in Eastern Europe is often turned towards a very modern neo?

The surprise does not come from the soaring progressive style, with its many clear guitar solos over keyboard chords, in the pure tradition of what Eastern European bands are used to offering. It doesn't come from the quality of execution of the protagonists, which remains flawless. It does come from the hardening of most of the tracks. Where most bands of the genre stop, Riverside doesn't hesitate to add more power through more incisive guitar riffs or through some ideally placed vocal eruptions.

In the end, "Out Of Myself" represents a new fusion between several elements that weren't really used to cohabit: a lot of synth, a touch of brutality while generating beautiful, often languorous and repetitive melodies. This last adjective leads perhaps to the only reproach that one can make to this album.

Without disrupting the progressive criteria one expects, Riverside allow themselves to evolve a music that will perhaps allow those who was reluctant to reconcile themselves with the genre. Riverside starts its career under the best auspices and is not ready to stop since it will quickly become one of the spearheads of the genre. - Official website
