""Rising" is probably the best Rainbow album. The Blackmore/Dio pair are at the top of their game here and offer us unstoppable tracks that will become classics of the band."

After constant personnel changes in a short period of time, Rainbow records his second album, "Rising", with the arrival of Jimmy Bain and Cozy Powell. Unfortunately, this waltz of musicians within the band becomes one of its characteristics, proving that Rainbow is indeed the project of one man: Ritchie Blackmore

Much more mature, Rainbow dares to venture into more sophisticated and experimental compositions with 'Rising'. Tracks like 'Tarot Woman' with its original keyboard intro, but especially 'Stargazer' and 'Light In The Black', both of which are over eight minutes long, lean towards the progressive side of things, something rare in metal bands of the time. Ronnie James Dio sings better than ever and his lyrical power is expressed here in an exceptional way; certainly one of the most beautiful voices in metal of all styles.

The only criticism that can be made of "Rising" is its length. We would have liked to listen to twice as much. However, the musicians are not lazy. Throughout the album, they give it their all without it seeming demonstrative until the final explosion of 'Light In The Black' whose bridge is still a reference today.

"Rising" is probably the best Rainbow album. The Blackmore/Dio pair are at the top of their game here and offer us unstoppable tracks that will become classics of the band. Rainbow has become a new star in the metal galaxy of the time and a reference that simply cannot be ignored.

PROGRESSIVE ROCK - First album of Spock's Beard, "The Light" is nevertheless one of their most accomplished works.
SYLVAN: X-rayed (2004)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - "X-Rayed" is a perfect balance between the neo-progressive rock with its gliding solos and the progressive rock with its breaks and changes of shots.
