Third opus for Karmakanic, Swedish band and originally side-project of Jonas Reingold, the bass player of 'The Flower Kings'. Once again, the man has enlisted the services of most of the members of his original band as well as some distinguished guests to produce and record this "Who's The Boss In The Factory", an album that will certainly end up in many playlists of progressive rock fans.

The opus starts with "Send a Message from the Heart", an epic 20 minutes track with multiple variations, from ballad to grandiose chorus, passing by the jazz whose main theme is regularly declined with different arrangements and rhythmics. A pure wonder, that each listening makes us rediscover.

"Let in Hollywood" contrasts with "Send a Message From the Heart" and the rest of the album. Only 5 minutes for a track that reminds us of Manfred Mann's Earth Band or Stevie Wonder. With its sustained rhythm and its more aggressive arrangements, the title is an excellent parenthesis in this album with strong progressive hints.

Two long tracks follow, respectively 13 and 10 minutes, which, once again, will delight the fans of the genre. The recipe is proven, but it works every time because the ingredients are all of quality. Strength, sensibility, virtuosity, all that is present in this record. Not a melody that leaves you cold, not a transition that doesn't revive your interest, not a note that is not the logical continuation of the previous one.

The disc closes on a very moving diptych "Eternally Part 1 and 2". Written by Jonas Reingold in honor of his parents who died in a car accident at the end of 2007, this track might bring a tear to your eye. And Lelo Nika's accordion will surely have something to do with it.

This third album of Karmakanic is at the top of the band's discography. Jonas Reingold seems to have reached a peak in his life as an artist. Close to the Flower Kings without the usual digressions, "Who's The Boss In The Factory" is a sure value for any fan of melodious and accessible progressive rock.

OTHER REVIEWS
DIRE STRAITS: Brothers In Arms (1985)
ROCK - Dire Straits moves away from its rock roots in this "Brothers In Arms" but delivers a jewel of atmospheres which culminates with the eponymous title.
QUEENSRŸCHE: Rage For Order (1986)
PROGRESSIVE METAL - While some tracks are still a little weak and others very adventurous, which will confuse some Queensrÿche fans, "Rage For Order" remains an excellent appetizer before the gigantic "Operation: Mindcrime".
