Since the beginning of his career, Pendragon has made a series of albums, without the slightest originality or surprise, but generally with quality, and this album is no exception to the rule. If you like progressive rock as practiced by Genesis or Marillion, Fish period, you can only appreciate Pendragon's compositions.
Indeed, The Window Of Life doesn't renew the genre in any way, but the quality is still there. First of all, the omnipresence of keyboards supporting extremely well constructed melodies will not be without reminding you of another top band: Arena. And this is not surprising in the sense that these two bands have in common their keyboard, Clive Nolan, an artist whose sense of harmony is well proven.
But the real composer of all the tracks on this album is Nick Barrett, singer and guitarist, and it must be said that this gentleman has the art and the way to bring the right note at the right time. In this respect, I can only advise you to listen with extreme attention to the solo of Breaking The Spell, whose themes can only move you.
This album, without being essential to your discotheque, is nevertheless an interesting piece which will not be a departure from your personal discotheque and which can be a good introduction if you don't know Pendragon yet.
Finally, I can't finish without mentioning the album cover, signed Simon Williams, who will also refer you to a certain Mark Wilkinson who created the covers of the first albums of... Marillion. The style is peculiar and will put off some people by its heaviness and its exaggerated symbolism, but it illustrates well the universe and the influences of Pendragon and brings an extra touch of quality to this album. - Official website
