A persistent anxiety overwhelmed fans of When Reasons Collapse due to the lack of news from the band since their previous album, “Omen Of The Banshee.” Some saw this as a sign that the band had broken up for good, which would have been a shame given the rise the band had been enjoying with each successive album. So it was a relief when the band announced the release of Men Will Be The End Of Men, with its stunning cover art.

The band returns to the forefront with a carefully crafted sound that magnifies each song, making a smashing entry into the big leagues. However, the album never forgets to slip in a melodic passage between two bloody uppercuts. The power is still there, and even the softness hides a colossal energy within.

The songs stand out for their desire to flirt with greater technique and complexity. Stronger than ever, When Reasons Collapse offers anthological passages, razor-sharp rhythms (“Crystal Clear”), with surgically precise metrics and a powerful groove. Progressive touches can be found in the slowdowns and accelerations or in the varied riffs (“Celestial”), while beautiful solo parts emerge without falling into easy showmanship (“Men Will Be The End Of Men”), bringing a melodic light that both relieves and increases the turmoil (“Dawn Of Horror”). With rhythmic breaks, the fury sometimes gives way to airy passages adorned with evanescent acoustic guitars (“Résilience”). The two highlights of the album are the beautiful visuals that adorn it, a kind of mise en abîme with multiple levels of interpretation, and the extraordinarily high-quality, emotion-filled vocals. This sensual, aggressive, and varied singing, the backbone of all the songs, succeeds in being rabid, hyper-saturated, but also very melodic.

“Men Will Be The End Of Men” is a high-quality album that confirms the band's special place in the metalcore scene. The band reaches a new milestone with this masterful opus, navigating between rage, gentleness, infectious groove, and technical flourishes. It is a work that seeks to break free from stylistic limitations and focus on pure emotion... It was worth waiting a few years to hear a work of such quality!

SLEEP TOKEN: Even In Arcadia (2025)
ALTERNATIVE METAL - “Even in Arcadia” is a bold album, carried by the intermittent genius of Sleep Token, but hampered by its own ambitions. In this garden of Arcadia, the flowers are sublime, but some roots struggle to take hold.
TARJA: Circus Life (2025)
MELODIC METAL - Dazzling and captivating, “Circus Life” once again demonstrates Tarja's artistic freedom, as well as her charisma and passion for her art and her audience.
