Dynazty, the Swedish combo masterfully led by Nils Molin, returns at the start of this year with a new album entitled “Game Of Faces”. It's already been three years (since the thunderous “Final Edvent”) that the Scandinavians have been keeping their followers waiting, a long delay explained by the busy schedule of their frontman, who appeared on the latest New Horizon and Amaranthe albums.
The dynamism and symphonic energy that emanate from this happy metal work are undeniable, and the combo's sincerity in their intentions to put a smile on people's faces is commendable. So much so, in fact, that we can even forgive them for sometimes rehashing the same melodies from one album to the next. For example, the chorus of 'Fortune Favors The Brave' sounds too much like that of 'Waterfall' (“The Dark Delight”). In the end, though, it doesn't really matter: this track and all the others, without exception, are utterly delightful, sometimes reminiscent of Amaranthe ('Devilry of Ecstasy'), but also of Battle Beast ('Call of the Night', reminiscent of 'Bastard Son Of Odin'). For the anecdote, a little incongruous assonance appears between a passage of the antiphon from 'Dark Angel' and the refrain from the Disney mega-tube 'Libérée Délivrée'.
Dynazty, unsurprisingly but with passion and sincerity, continues on its merry way with “Game Of Faces”. Their catchy metal conveys a beneficial vigor thanks to unstoppable, instantly assimilable melodies and infectiously ardent rhythms that make us want to shake out our hibernating carcasses as winter draws to a close. - Official website
