Julie Christmas is well known to post-metal fans for her work with Made Out Of Babies and Battle Of Mice, as well as for her collaboration with Cult Of Luna. The singer has kept a low profile in recent years. She's back with “Ridiculous and Full of Blood”, her first solo album since 2010. Joining her on guitar and vocals is Johannes Person from Cult Of Luna

The heart of the album is full of roller-coaster tracks that jostle and seduce you. 'Supernatural', 'End Of The Wold', 'Lighthouse' and 'Seven Days' are emotional whirlwinds that speak to the soul. Julie's voice oscillates between skin-deep fragility and raw, flayed tone, with a bewitching style and charming choruses. As an added bonus, Johaness brings his strength to the table, howling like a damned man in pure, dark, depressive post-metal style.

With 'Thin Skin' and 'Blast', Julie brings aggression to the fore. The screaming vocals impress, while the intensity bursts forth with a frightening, menacing quality. In this intense, crazy atmosphere, 'Not Enough' and 'Kids' are moving, bombs ready to explode, carried by vicious, schizophrenic vocals. The force is just nuanced by post-tinted melodies and snatches of calm, melancholy vocals. In terms of melancholy, 'Silver Dollars' is a soulful success that carries you away with an edgy edge between post rock and alternative.

“Ridiculous and Full of Blood” is a splendid record, full of strength, rage and emotion. Julie Christmas makes a remarkable return to the foreground, magnifying sensibility as few can.
