"Marilyn Manson's opus, with its melancholy gothic melodies, is at once attractive and frightening."

Since “We Are Chaos”, Marilyn Manson's life hasn't been a smooth ride - the dark and sultry singer has been at the center of accusations of sexual assault. His horizon has brightened, but this has largely tarnished his image. In any case, it's time to focus on his music and his twelfth album, “One Assassination Under God - Chapter I”.
With its unhealthy cover, the album exudes a very dark atmosphere. With 'One Assassination Under God', 'As Sick As The Secrets Within', 'Death Is Not A Costume' and 'Sacrilegious', Marilyn Manson creates a nice mix of pop, rock and gothic. His clear voice is bloodcurdling. The catchiness is supported by effective, direct refrains. There's a vicious, melancholy, creepy quality to the music. The instrumental parts add a certain charm, with an icy pop aspect that's just right.
With 'No Funeral Without Applause' and 'Meet Me In Purgatory', the listener is plunged into a catchy universe tinged with electro and wave. The haunting, dark pop vocals are combined with 1980s-style synthesized music. 'Nod If You Understand' and 'Raise The Red Flag' seduce with a wicked side carried by Marilyn Manson in angry mode, and the association with the vicious side is frighteningly effective. 'Sacrifice Of The Mass' brings sadness to the fore. This melancholy ballad shows Manson in hopeless mode, with an edgy gothic spirit.
Time and scandal do not seem to have weakened a Marilyn Manson who remains dark and gloomy. His new opus is a successful blend of strength and melancholy, taking us deep into the darkness... just like our society today. - Official website
