Two years after “Magic is Alive”, the Italians from Lionville are back. The major event attached to this galette is clearly located on the microphone side, where one of the most prominent frontmen of the moment has chosen to officiate. Mention Art Nation, Work Of Art and Crowne, and the name Alexander Strandell will inevitably spring to mind. So, the Transalps have chosen to add a few Swedish colors to their Genoese paintings. The question is whether the Nordic singer will succeed in getting his little playmates out of their comfort zone. Because, let's face it, Lionville are traditionally more into quiet hard melo.

Alexander Strandell's easily recognizable voice, solid vocal chords and talent for storytelling make him a travel companion who leaves his mark wherever he goes. And this new page in its history won't break tradition, as Lionville shows the tip of its claws for once. The result is that the AOR that was thought to be atavistic sometimes takes on the appearance of committed hard FM on this “Supernatural”.

In this respect, 'Heading For A Hurricane' evokes Axe, the American band that made a name for itself in the early 1980s, while 'Breakaway' invites us to the Nestor table with its ambience worthy of a “Rocky” soundtrack. In the same punchy vein, we also find 'Nothing Is Over', which harkens back to Creye, and 'The Storm' to Seventh Crystal. But 'Gone' reminds us of Lionville's genes, with its melodies and crystalline guitars worthy of Bruno Levesque's French band Silence. 'Another Life' and 'Celebrate Our Life' are of a similar ilk, taking us back to the British FM.

With this new offering, Lionville has upped the ante a notch, spicing up his usual light-hearted recipe. Strandell is to be thanked for bringing us an (almost) new band to keep an eye on.
