"With “The Unseen”, Klone refines its atmospheric approach, playing on the nuances between tension and serenity, for a work that is as captivating as it is introspective."

Over the past few years, Klone has embarked on a new musical direction, swapping the nervous surges of their debut for a more atmospheric, introspective approach. While this choice proved judicious with “Le Grand Voyage”, it also revealed its limitations, due to a certain structural redundancy. Despite their undeniable melodic richness, the band seemed to have locked themselves into repetitive patterns. With “The Unseen”, Klone shows that it has lost none of its ability to surprise and evolve.

This album marks a new stage in the band's career, consolidating an atmospheric sound identity while hinting at a desire for renewal. There's a perfect communion with Klone's current approach, but also a latent energy that could herald more edgy directions in the future. This subtle but perceptible blend makes for a rich and varied listening experience.

Album opener 'Interlaced' sets the tone. This track retains the airy elegance so dear to the band, while adding a more raw production, giving predominance to a round bass and percussive drums marked by the intervention of the saxophone. This work on dynamics and sonic depth testifies to a desire to densify Klone's sonic universe. In contrast, 'The Unseen' focuses on a gradual build-up, playing on nuances and controlled tension. If the structure, already heard, might seem predictable, it is deployed here with enough finesse to captivate.

On a more direct note, 'Magnetic' is striking in its brevity and immediate impact. With its swaying rhythm and effective melody, it stands out as a key moment on the album, proving that Klone knows how to get to the heart of the matter without sacrificing depth. 'After The Sun' takes a brighter, more open approach, offering a welcome breath of fresh air, while 'Spring,' with its ambitious 12 minutes, brings the album to a climactic close. Divided into two distinct parts, this track leaves the second half to the musicians, allowing them to fully explore intoxicating sonorities, while reaffirming their technical mastery.

With “The Unseen”, Klone demonstrates its artistic maturity. The album alternates between moments of tension and moments of serenity, reflecting a growing mastery of songwriting, even if certain ideas would have deserved more daring development. Far from running out of steam, the band succeeds in correcting the shortcomings of its sometimes overly linear predecessor and delivers a homogeneous, ambitious work.
