"“Altering Fates And Destinies” is another great vintage from Loudblast. Somewhere between death, heavy, doom and gothic, this is a richly varied opus of phenomenal power."

With “Manifesto”, Loudblast confirmed its fine artistic form. Less tenebrous than “Burial Ground”, the album showed the band to be masters of their art. On the eve of their 40th anniversary, the French band are back with “Altering Fates And Destinies”, still led by frontman Stéphane Buriez. He is accompanied here by Fred Leclercq and Nico Muller, who took over the drums for the album.
Loudblast take pleasure in returning to their roots with 'From Beyond II (The Return)', which harks back to the fabulous 'Sensorial Treatment' (2023), 'Son Of Nameless Mist' and 'Inhale The Void'. The guttural death tone is exquisite, and Buriez's cavernous growl asserts itself with savage, majestic, bestial violence. The solos evoke the best of the technical sound worthy of Death legend. Bonus track 'Forbidden Pleasure' - a cover of Necrophagia - confirms the band's love of a good old-fashioned death sound.
But Loudblast also knows how to be more nuanced. 'Putrid Age Of Decay', 'Miserable Failure', 'He Who Slumbers' and 'Fortress' vary the message effectively. Raw death metal force is combined with a heavy, gothic edge in the spirit of Paradise Lost. Buriez's growl always makes an impression, while the catchy choruses bring a unifying quality that should be a hit live. In a more doomy vein, 'Crystal Skin' and 'Dark Allegiance' are crushingly powerful. The sticky, monolithic feel is ferocious, like a leaden blanket in the dark, hopeless spirit of Celtic Frost.
“Altering Fates And Destinies” is a splendid declaration of power. Loudblast's richly varied and exciting album explores all facets of extreme art with class. - Official website
