Eclipse had become accustomed to a biannual offering. This time, the Swedes have been even quicker, as “Megalomanium II” hits our playlists just one year after its predecessor. The inspiration of Mårtensson's band is impressive, so much so that we've been able to enjoy almost 70 tracks in less than ten years!
This frenzy does not detract from the quality of the band's production, and this new work is no exception. Just as diverse as its predecessor, this album is pure energy, and a real spreader of good cheer. It's a musical work of art, presenting modern hard rock in its many variations.
A firework display of disparate rhythms dazzles the listener as he listens. It moves from joyful, ass-kicking heavy rock ('Apocalypse Blues') to danceable heavy rock ('The Spark', akin to Reckless Love). He navigates between modern pop rock ('Falling To My Knees' and its nod to Scorpions) and Bryan Adams-style pop rock ('All I Want'), and switches from the new wave keyboards of 'Still My Hero' to the Celtic sounds of 'Until The War Is Over'. The music lover will try to recover from the uppercut struck by the monstrous guitars of 'Divide & Conquer' by launching into 'One In A Million', and will then make a fatal error that will crush him with its pachydermic heaviness and disembowel him with its angry protrusions.
Once again, Eclipse brightens our horizons with “Magalomanium II”, which will delight fans of the band. It should also win over any hard rock lovers who appreciates anthems that pulse, leap and spread joy to the heart, the kind that makes you want to sing at the top of your lungs. - Official website
