Never one to take a break, Blaze Bayley flirted with the worst at the beginning of 2023 when he suffered a serious heart attack. But the man went through a number of ordeals and quickly got back on his feet. And he's already back with 'Circle Of Stone'. Well supported by the musicians of Absolva, Blaze Bayley has enjoyed a good period since his trilogy and has confirmed this with 'War Within Me'.

Far from recent concepts, 'Circle Of Stone' features a number of short tracks. Mind Reader', 'Tears In Rain' and 'Ghost In The Bottle' as well as 'Absence' and 'The Path Of The Righteous Man' are explosive. The pace is fast, with riffs and solos cut from the best of classic heavy metal. Blaze Bayley dominates the whole with a catchy tone and instant, effective choruses. On 'Circle Of Stone', he forms a perfect duet with Wolf's Niklas Stålvind with a high-pitched tone for a high-flying heavy result.

Blaze Bayley has not put aside his catchy aspects. 'Day Of Reckoning' and 'Rage' get off to a gentle start, with violin on the latter, and a delicacy brought out by the storytelling side of the vocals. After that, the pace quickens, but the melody and melancholy remain. The latter hovers over 'The Broken Man' and 'Until We Meet Again'. The former is a feeling ballad in the form of a poignant confession. The second, full of sensitivity, is carried by the duo formed by Blaze Bayley and singer Tammy-Rae Bois. Anne Bakker's violin has a real impact, as does the catchy chorus.

"Circle Of Stone" is yet another success for Blaze Bayley. Perfectly supported by talented musicians, he offers a straightforward record that makes an impact without ever leaving out the sensitive part. He's continuing his career in the best possible way, and let's hope it lasts for a long time to come.
