Everything to do with Till Lindemann smells of brimstone. But despite his legal affairs, he continues to tour with Rammstein and pursue his solo career. Now separated from Peter Tägtgren, with whom he had produced two albums under his own name, the singer adds his first name to the project to mark a new artistic chapter. Backed by a brand-new team and supported by producer Sky Van Hoff, Till Lindemann returns with a new album, "Zunge", with its unhealthy, evocative visuals, just like the videos for the singles, all of which are forbidden to minors.
Till Lindemann's recipe is close to that of Rammstein, his marked voice not allowing him to break out of a certain framework. Several tracks break out of this mold: 'Zunge', 'Sport Frei', 'Du Hast Kein Herz' and 'Schweiss' have the typical martial edge carried by Till's deep voice. The choruses are effective, and the melancholy emanating from the keyboard and industrial sounds is reminiscent of the "Mutter" era.
Till Lindemann has the good idea of venturing off the beaten track. Somewhere between pop and metal - in the spirit of his ex-comparison Pain's band - 'Altes Fleisch' and 'Über Mees' are effective, with 80s synths, a new wave feel and catchy choruses. Nass' and 'Allez Für Die Kinder' are horrific cinematic adventures tinged with an industrial spirit a la Killing Joke. Piano, backing vocals and childish laughter add a certain unhealthy charm. Two ballads full of charm and melancholy complete the album.
"Zunge" is an interesting album that often comes close to Rammstein without sounding like it. Although Till Lindemann's image is blurred, this does not prevent him from maintaining a very high artistic level. - Official website
