Broken Bomb is the soldier of a society at war. For their debut album, the french punk rock band uses Stanley Kubrick's film "Full Metal Jacket" as a reference, itself inspired by Gustav Hasford's book "Le Merdier". For the band, there's no doubt that we're in deep shit, and what better way than with a good punk rock album to express our frustration than with a grenade thrown into the face of those in power.

"Full Metal Racket" doesn't leave us a moment's respite, testifying to the urgency we've all been feeling for years. It has to be said that the environment is no longer conducive to smiling. The ten tracks that make up the album fly by at breakneck speed, conveying the rage and anger that are rumbling around. The rhythm guides these stormy feelings, heightened by the flashes of electric guitars that feature prominently. Rarely do the tracks reach three minutes in length. Everything moves fast, perhaps too fast. No track seems to take precedence over the other.

Broken Bomb masters its subject and pushes the desired cinematic immersion to the limit. You catch the riffs like bullets flying around you. Despite this classicism, the French combo calls in a few reinforcements from thrash, heavy metal and even a touch of hard rock (the start of 'Under Your Flag'), adding a little more density to the battle. The rhythm section delivers an energetic punch (the bass at the start of 'Go To Hell'). Broken Bomb Squad" stands out in this deluge for its Iron Maiden-like melodic quality.

With "Full Metal Racket", Broken Bomb offer themselves a fine opener, perhaps a little classic for reassurance. It succeeds. The foundations are solid for a sequel that we hope will be a little more adventurous. The musicians have the potential.
