""Slasher" is a well-calibrated, effective EP with impeccable solo scratches, but it's a little too classic to make much of an impression."

Omnium Gatherum is one of the leader of melodic death metal with a sprinkling of technique. Their friendly, high-energy records offer music with a tried-and-tested formula. Barely two years after "Origin", the band, bolstered by Nick Cordle (ex. Arch Enemy) on second guitar, release a four-track EP lacking in novelty, with "Slasher" failing to deliver the mass slaughter so eagerly awaited.
Although melodic death with shimmering guitars, diabolical melodies and superb solo parts is still the hallmark of Omnium Gatherum ('Slasher'), the album seems smoothed out and conventional. The rage is erased, the tracks are calibrated, like the cover of Michael Sembello's pop hit 'Maniac' where, unlike the Italians of Graveworm who are masters in the art of transforming their covers, the Finns don't imprint their personality, content to ape the original right down to the video.
The other three tracks are no different, preferring to follow the canons of the genre, smoothing them out, without ever questioning them or adapting them to the times. So, even if superbly played and magnificently produced, the result lacks relief, the ardor and rage. "Slasher" is a calibrated, efficient EP, with impeccable musicians, but whose tracks seem to have been heard before and lack relief. - Official website
