The Iron Savior ship continues on its way. With Piet Sielck at the helm, the German outfit withstands all headwinds and returns with "Firestar". The themes remain unchanged. Somewhere between reality and science fiction, Sielck stays the course on notions of tolerance, good and evil, which have been in a bad way of late.

Iron Savior's speed metal is very refreshing. The listener is plunged into the heyday of late-90s true metal ('Curse Of The Machinery', 'Firestar'). The pace is steady, the riffs and solos come thick and fast, with an amazing sense of melody that makes you raise your fist high. Piet is in top shape, his raspy voice working wonders, and the well-crafted, epic choruses are a pleasure to savor.

'Calmer, 'In The Realm Of Heavy Metal' and 'Through The Fires Of Hell' sound classic heavy, showing a good melodic side, notably in the effective choruses carried by a delightfully catchy Piet. The more martial 'Demise Of The Tyrant' is reminiscent of Accept. This Germanic heavy side is effective, supported by a unifying chorus designed to be taken up in chorus, and fast, effective melodic solos.

With "Firestar", Iron Savior delivers a perfect patchwork of fresh, uplifting heavy speed metal. It's pleasant to think that the Germans will be flying over the metal planet for a long time to come.

OTHER REVIEWS
RONNIE ROMERO: Too Many Lies, Too Many Masters (2023)
HEAVY METAL - Romero shifted his focus from covers to original compositions for his solo career. Unfortunately, the all-too classic "Too Many Lies, Too Many Masters" doesn't leave a lasting impression.
NUCLEAR POWER TRIO: Wet Ass Plutonium (2023)
PROGRESSIVE METAL - Despite a solid technical performance, "Wet Ass Plutonium" lacks coherence and struggles to offer unifying melodies and memorable tracks.
