""Touchdown" is a solid Germanic heavy album in which U.D.O. defies time with class and insolence."

Udo Dirkschneider is a stakhanovist. The German singer never stops, having released a solo album without his band and touring relentlessly. He is back with U.D.O. for his eighteenth album, "Touchdown". It's worth noting that the band is joined on bass by ex-Accept, Udo's long-time accomplice, Peter Baltes.
The heavy metal slaps are legion ('Isolation Man', 'The Flood', 'Heroes Of Freedom', 'Touchdown'). The rhythm is fast, U.D.O. has his typical raspy timbre and the guitars stick to the wall, carried by a virtuoso duo. On 'Touchdown', the violin solo adds a dynamic symphonic edge. Equally heavy, 'Flight For The Right' stands out with Mozart's Turkish March revisited on guitar for a flamboyantly epic result. 'Betrayer' surprises with a modern edge that sees U.D.O. approaching percussive heavy thrash metal.
As for the rest, U.D.O.'s hard rock songs are simple and straightforward, with catchy melodies and irresistible choruses. Smirnov and Dammers shine on guitar with fast, melodic solos. Tailored for live performance, these unifying tracks get the toes tapping.
"Touchdown" is an excellent vintage from U.D.O. The German legend shows fine shape with a perfect concentrate of fresh, varied heavy metal. - Official website
