With "All Heads Are Gonna Roll", Sweden's Vomitory end a hiatus of over ten years. When it comes to classic death metal, they're in a good league with bands like Grave and Vader. for this comeback, the band's didn't change with a gory cover and themes.
Most of the time, Vomitory's ferocity and violence are unparalleled ('All Heads Are Gonna Roll', 'Decrowned', 'Dead World'). The rhythm is insanely intense, and the listener is swept along in a death storm. Technical mastery is total, with powerful direct riffs and dazzling soli. Erik's deep, cavernous growl makes a real impression, particularly on the well-crafted, highly effective choruses.
'Ode To The Meat Saw' and 'Beg For Death' are more nuanced tracks. Violence is the order of the day, but with some very heavy ambiences carved out of classy death metal worthy of Cannibal Corpse. The acceleration sticks to the spot, with fast-paced solos and a growl that seems to come straight from the circles of hell.
Vomitory makes a remarkable comeback. They've lost none of their snarl, and offer a delightful record that will delight fans of good old-fashioned death metal that takes pleasure in devastating everything in its path.
