The Swedes of Black Paisley are back with their fourth production called "Human Nature". Their classic hard rock, marked by southern features, allowed them to attract the followers of the easy listening melodies of the 80's and to entice the followers of the southern sounds. "Rambler", their previous successful album, brought them out of the shadows thanks to the rave reviews it received. It only remains to make sure that they will have been able to stay in the light with this new effort...

The quartet uses here the same ingredients that had appealed to the audience in 2020. So, since classifying bands by genre seems to be a must, you should know that the press mentions the Swedes as being one of the jewels of the NWOCR, meaning the New Wave Of Classic Rock. However, presenting Black Paisley as a mix between Harem Scarem and 38 Special will probably guide you better than trying to figure out what this label might be hiding.

Associating melodic hard rock with southern rock is a most original intention. None of the many Scandinavian bands that fill the record shelves these days have chosen this somewhat surprising path. This characteristic allows the band to stand out from its peers. Particularly applied in the melodic work and possessing guitarists full of feeling, the Swedes easily catch the audience on the twelve tracks proposed here.

If the combo, which owes its name to the Fender Stratocaster on which Richie Sambora (ex-Bon Jovi) used to play, sounds like a 38 Special infused with melodic hard rock, it is mainly due to Stefan Blomqvist's sensual blues rock voice. We can also, throughout the tracks, find Molly Hatchet ('Don't Call Me A Liar'), Scorpions (the entries of 'Not Alone' and 'Silent Asylium'), ZZ Top ('Set Me Free') and Aerosmith ('Worlds Turning').

Original and varied, this "Human Nature" has everything to please a wide range of music lovers. If you missed the release of "Rambler" two years ago, don't make the same mistake this year. Black Paisley deserves your attention.

THRASH - With "Ultraman", Voivod signs a nice EP which should delight the fans of Japanese television culture.
RIVERSIDE: Id.entity (2023)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - Less atmospheric than the two previous albums, "ID.entity" takes us back to Riverside's roots, which once again succeeds in creating a tasty mix that will attract a large audience.
