By proposing "Leviathan", Therion had played it safe. The idea was to please the fans by offering a record synthesizing the ingredients that made the success of the band. Although perilous, the result was a record quite far from the crazy and dantesque "Beloved Antichrist" but fresh and direct. "Leviathan II", the second part of the trilogy, tries to find the soft and atmospheric side that could be heard on "Vovin".

'Aeon Of Maat' sets the tone, a short track featuring female vocals in a superb canon. The heart of the album is made up of calm and melodic tracks on which the vocals dominate. Lori Lewis is at the top of her game as are her soprano colleagues. Among the men, Vikstrom is remarkable as well as the tenor Yuri Zaplanov who magnifies 'Hades And Elyisum'. The atmospheric or soaring character of the tracks is tinged with a certain mysticism brought by the organ and the piano.

Therion is also pop with 'Cavern Cold As Ice'. Carried by a nice flute sound, the track evokes Abba with its catchy chorus and Rosalia Sairem's pure vocals. 'Marijin Min Nar' is a mystical journey tinged with classical and beautiful oriental melodies. Erik Martensson from Eclipse brings a very pop catchy side to 'Pazuzu'. Finally, the heavy is made a place on 'Lucifuge Rofocale' and 'Midnight Star' on which the guitars impose themselves.

Therion signs with "Leviathan II" a melodic, atmospheric and mystical record that will delight the fans of a time when the band put the vocals very forward. We are impatiently waiting for the last part.

SIGH: Shiki (2022)
BLACK METAL - Sigh constantly pushes the limits of styles to better transgress and reshape them. "Shiki" is no exception to the rule and is as likely to impress as to confuse.
TABOO: Taboo (2022)
ALTERNATIVE METAL - First successful try for Taboo, project of Pretty Maids' guitarist and H.E.R.O.'s singer, who offers us a modern and efficient alternative pop metal album.
