Holy Fallout is a newcomer on the progressive metal planet. Coming from France, the band is based on a guitar duo, Florian Jacquemin and Pierre-Emmanuel Fischer (Derealized). This duo is completed by Matthieu Roger (Derealized's bass player), Florent Holvec (ex. Conquistar) and Paul Girardot. After a pleasant four tracks and some scenes with Fractal Universe, he publishes a first record with metal mixed with progressive. The compositions are inspired by the heaviness of the progressive heavy of Fates Warning, the fury of alternative metal and ethereal passages taken from Anathema. With such ambitions, the promise of this record is simply enticing.

"All Down And Deviant" is crossed by a constant melodic concern and a will to be as effective as direct even if the variations are legion. The band focuses on energy since the first track 'Let It Go' and its powerful riff. The guitar textures are warm, the drums are square and punchy and the voice intones catchy choruses. The vocals are very varied, 'Stigmatas' offers a version that comes from the guts while the one of 'Back In Time' is sharp and aggressive like in metalcore.

The album spreads out a sum of nervous and percussive riffs, such as those of 'Let It Go' at the limit of thrash in the manner of Metallica. The stripped guitars are very present, they sprinkle 'Back In Time' or 'Caged' with simplicity, dress 'Doubtful' with soft arpeggios reminding for a while the winter softness of the first Genesis. The phrases of six-string solitary illuminate the tracks of fluid technique to the limit of the shred ('First Timers').

A few progressive touches complete the picture. 'Stigmatas' crosses a multitude of colored landscapes, between incisive riffs, shouted vocals, aerial moments, syncopated passages, grandiose choirs, acoustic arpeggios and brilliant solitary digression. This track is a perfect way to validate the quality of Holy Fallout music.

"All Down And Deviant" is an energetic album carried by beautiful melodies. Between suave evidence and complex evolutions, it plays with contrasts without ever losing its energy. Here is a first intense production that shows that Holy Fallout is a band you can already count on.

BANCO DEL MUTUO SOCCORSO: Orlando: Le Forme Dell'amore (2022)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso celebrates its 50 years of discographic existence with a new concept album, a little too long and disordered but that revives the magic of this band of the golden legend of Italian progressive rock.
THE RASMUS: Rise (2022)
ROCK - Much less catchy than "Dark Matters", "Rise" is an album too mainstream and smooth to leave a memorable souvenir.
