"Slipknot signs a very varied "The End, So Far", alternating power and melody with a certain talent, which should seduce a large audience."

Slipknot will never be a serene and peaceful band. But with "We Are Not Your Kind" they got back on track. Since then, he has confirmed Michael Pfaff as drummer and has gone back to work. As usual, he is building up the pressure with several singles and creating a strong expectation. The seventh offering is called "The End, So Far" and not "The End For Now..." as envisaged for a while, creating a little buzz about his possible end of career.
From the beginning with 'Adderall', Slipknot surprises. Between pop and rock, the title is very melodic carried by the clean vocals of Corey Taylor. Made for general radios, the track, with a certain charm, is clearly the softest ever proposed by the band. But we must reassure the fans, Slipknot still knows how to make the powder speak. Several tracks offer an intense rhythm and we find the crazy side with percussions, samples and big neo metal sound. Taylor screams like hell with sometimes a rapped side and we can imagine these tracks crushing everything in concert.
At the same time, the band puts forward its melodic qualities with tracks alternating raw power and seductive melodies. 'Yen', 'Medicine For The Dead' and 'De Sade' start off softly before hitting the listener in intense neo thrash mode. In the quiet moments, one thinks of Stonesour for the emotional side. 'Hive Mind' and 'Heirlom' start brutally but become catchy on choruses dominated by Taylor's melodic voice. 'Acidic' and 'Finale' show purely melodic strengths. In a US rock tone, Taylor dominates the tracks and sings with a catchy melancholic edge.
With "The End, So Far", Slipknot signs the most varied record of its career. It combines power and melody with a formidable efficiency. The success is there for a free band which evolves without caring of what is said around him. - Official website
