The Frenchmen of Disconnected had perfectly launched their career with a very varied "White Colossus", somewhere between djent, Gojira and Alter Bridge. Since then the band has toured a lot, with Tremonti, Judas Priest or Mass Hysteria. They are back with a second opus, having released an acoustic EP, "The Downtine". Since then, the line-up has evolved with the departure of drummer Aurélien Ouzoulias, replaced by the omnipotent Jelly Cardarelli (Klone, Adagio, Lalu...).
The new opus is called "We Are Disconnected". Endowed with a cover that seems to come out of "Blade Runner" and with a title in the form of an identity affirmation, the record offers eight tracks and is as varied as its predecessor. It is a real musical melting pot which awaits the listener. Disconnected doesn't set any limit and alternates styles without harming the coherence of the record.
The album skillfully mixes genres. 'Life Will Always Find its Way', 'King Of The World' as well as 'I Fall Again' and 'Primal Rage' give you the feeling of being in a spin. The metal power released is monstrous with a technique of high flight and a growl not far from a thrash tinged with death close to Soulfly. At the same time, the band delivers catchy melodic passages carried by the clear vocals of an impressive Yann, following in the footsteps of Myles Kennedy.
Besides, Disconnected makes speak its melodic facet with 'Your Way To Kill' and 'That's How I'll Face The End'. The first one is a pure ballad tinged with pop that Nickelback would not deny with a clear vocal. The second one is just as catchy with just a little growl passage and a general tone worthy of Alter Bridge. Finally, with 'A World Of Futile Pains', the band signs a track of great class carried by an airy tone tinged with progressive with technical passages of high flight and a grandiloquent pop tone worthy of Muse.
"We Are Disconnected" is a brilliant confirmation of the talent of Disconnected. The band mixes the ambiances with talent and an impressive ease. It has all the cards in hand to make a hit and seduce both the modern metal fans and the fans of unstoppable melodies.
