Antechaos was born from the ashes of Seyminhol whose last album to date, "Opheliand Fields" (2018), had been positively received by the editors. Leaving the progressive metal style, the members of Seyminhol (Nicolas Pelissier, Chris Billon-Laroute and Julien Truttman) chose to build a new hard rock band, joining for this purpose the help of Laurent Fabisz (ex Kryzees) on vocals and Maxime Boriolo (ex-Fourth Circle) on guitar.
"Apocalypse" the well named in the current context is thus their first powerful and dense baby! The eleven tracks that make up this album (excluding bonus tracks) are carved in granite of a diabolically effective hard rock. Surfing on the waves created by Sortilège, Trust or Sixx A.M., Antechaos lands in the hard rock scene with an already well asserted personality drawn from its metal experience.
To make a good song in this style, you need impact, riff, rhythm, melody and memorable vocal lines. That's you will find in this "Apocalypse" like in 'Exodus' with an epic feel that we haven't heard in a long time for an album of this kind. Evoking migrations (whether climatic or due to war), the listener is struck by the immersive and cinematic effect of the track. The band appears concerned by the world around them, evoking with its sharp riffs the current inequality between men and women and the abuse ('Alpha'), the field of health and laboratories that have made the headlines over the past two years ('Secret Medical'). The anger is in Laurent's vocals which goes from hoarse lines to very well mastered high notes, the urgency on the razor's edge by evoking the mistreated children - slaves or indoctrinated - ('Enfance 2.0' and its sublime guitar solo of emotion). All that wants to be direct and without artifice.
But where the band stands out is in its overall mastery while integrating more personal aspects with modesty, offering more contrasts. Antechaos also draws from its progressive and metal past to propose well chained breaks that do not alter the hard rock aspect of the whole album.
Like Midas who turned everything he touched into gold, with "Apocalypse", Nicolas and his band try their hand at hard rock while rising to the top of the genre by a flawless melodic sense and by these little touches of metal and progressive, giving it an extra spice. - Official website
