"This "Only Human" is in conformity with what one could expect from Lee Abraham in a classic but pleasant neo progressive rock style."

Apart from his role as bassist and guitarist in the British band Galahad, Lee Abraham is a well-known producer but has also recorded several albums since 2003. "Only Human" is his ninth solo album, which keeps a line-up very close to his two previous productions.

No change of style is to be expected on this new opus either: the long suite that opens the album, 'Counting Down' (almost 30 minutes in 4 parts) clearly goes into a traditional neo-progressive rock alternating moments of emphasis and more intimist parts, with keyboards that largely carry the melodies, the guitar being reserved almost all the solos. It is very well done, produced with a care which leaves the place to all the registers, but totally predictable, the more so as the vocal lines, rather common, are served by a timbre without great relief. This long piece will not frighten anyone - the listening could not be easier -, but will struggle to fascinate those who know the style.

After this progressive guarantee, the other tracks are much more mainstream: classic construction, rather conventional arrangements but always a concern to please which allows to spend pleasant moments. The ultimate 'Hands of Time' takes a bit of height, and without being really progressive reaches territories frequented by the Alan Parsons Project of "Eye in the Sky" to leave a nice impression.

"Only Human" is a wise album, without really negative point but without exciting asset either. An album that you can't hate, that it's difficult to praise, but always pleasant to listen to.

Rien de neuf certes, mais c'est tellement bien fait avec un sens de la mélodie incroyable et des orchestrations de toute beauté : tout ce qu'on attend du néo-prog en fait. Je valide
