With the release of "Furyborn" (2019), Chaos Magic's latest album, and "The Mirror Star" (2020), Sinner's Blood's first opus, many were unaware that their talented guitarist Nasson Prudant had already proposed solo works. And yet, in 2007 was released "Dying Tears" where he was singing and playing the six-string, followed in 2010 by "Reflejo" in which he was just holding the microphone. Today, the Chilean presents us his new solo opus, "Scars".
This jack-of-all-trades is in charge of all the strings and keyboards, but also of the composition and production work. However, the South American has surrounded himself with some guests to support him. The most famous are Caterina Nix, the singer of Chaos Magic, and the multi-instrumentalist Alessandro Del Vecchio, who has been squatting almost all Frontiers productions for some years.
"Scars" is a strong melodic hard rock opus that sometimes turns to melodic metal. Thus, the shadow of the catchy melodies of Pretty Maids hovers over this album which also refers to Sinner's Blood and Evergrey. In his travels from one land to another, Nasson keeps melodiousness as a cornerstone. The performance in the research of the direct impact is all the more remarkable that the album knows no weakness. Displaying a constant power, it takes the listener in epic maelstroms, grandiloquent, sometimes marked by a symphonic lyricism.
This linearity in the quality of the tracks makes it difficult to highlight one of them. Nevertheless, it seems obvious to succumb to the listening of 'Not Today': its skilful keyboards, its furious riffs and its melody make it indeed an unavoidable hit. It is rivaled by 'King Of Lies', which will intoxicate the fans of Crowne and One Desire, and 'A New Beginning' destined to Dynazty's followers. In the quiet register, the power ballad 'On The Other Side', which reminds Evergrey and where Nasson offers a strong vocal performance.
This "Scars" certainly deserves a little place among the many new releases that are traditionally proposed at the beginning of the year. Little known by the general public, Nasson shows here that he is not only an excellent guitarist, but that he also proves to be a talented composer and frontman that we will have to follow with interest on the occasion of his next adventures. - Official website
