Behind the very exotic name of Euphrates Ride hides a certain David Mauro, better known as Rigil Kent. The young musician has been plagued by depression since childhood and was committed to a psychiatric hospital. Rather than closing himself up, David uses music as an outlet to express his deep malaise. That's why his first album is simply called "Therapy".

A melancholic and lunar rock carried by the deep voice of David Mauro makes us penetrate in the heart of the music of Euphrates Ride. The atmosphere is alternately deceptively calm and totally unstable on 'Gathering The Waves' where a guitar acts as a scalpel despite a comforting female voice. 'Every Single Grain Of Sand Has A Mass' is distinguished by its progressive tendencies, with a labyrinthine construction, a sharp guitar and a barked vocal split on the chorus by a female voice. 'Colors Of Grey' and 'I Beg Your Pray' allow to breathe before sinking again in the insanity.

Cut in two tracks, 'Trans' is THE track of the album, the one on which David Mauro decides to destroy all the dikes and to let us submerge by the waves. The introduction unveils asian colors before a groundswell caused by the drums sweeps the listener away, buried afterwards under an onslaught of guitar notes. Only the keyboard brings a buoy to hold on to. A grandiose piece that will delight the fans of alternative rock but also of progressive rock (one thinks of the finale of 'Dans Le Parc du Château Noir' by IQ).

In spite of its sententious themes, the album is never soothing and its 32 minutes listening time encourages to continue a new trip to the end of the depression. Euphrates Ride is off to a good start with this first EP that deserves a follow-up, hoping that its music can help guide other wandering souls towards the light.

SABATON: The War To End All Wars (2022)
HEAVY METAL - With "War To End All Wars" Sabaton doesn't renew itself much, but its lyrics which remind us that peace is quite ephemeral sound very current in this troubled period.
KO KO MO: Need Some Mo (2022)
ROCK - With this "Need Some Mo", Ko Ko Mo breathes pure rock through all its pores.
