Member of the symphonic metal band Ancient Bards, Daniele Mazza releases in this year 2021 his first solo album, "Immortals", soundtrack of an imaginary movie for which the story would be told by his music, even before being put in image.

Powerful strings, twirling violins and grandiose brass, the whole sublimated by grandiloquent choirs, the first part of the album follows the footsteps of Hans Zimmer and his famous film music, mixed with a touch of Nightwish, as soon as 'Believe in Dreams'. Conceived as a real symphony, "Immortals" was however realized without resorting to an orchestra, Daniele Mazza using for that many samples coming from his keyboards, with a bluffing effect, while Claudio Petronik comes to slip here and there some dantesque guitar soli. Some small Celtic touches and a little electro also come to bring a little lightness to the grandiose side of the whole ('In the Heart of Battle').

The second part of the album is a little calmer, and evokes other territories. It is first of all the superb 'Time to Go' carried by the magnificent voice of Sara Squadrani (who usually evolves behind the microphone of Ancient Bards) which walks on the steps of Yann Tiersen (what is all the more flagrant in its purely instrumental version declined in bonus of the album) with a pregnant piano. It is also 'The Wave of Destiny' that we would believe straight out of "The Life and Times of Scrooge" of Tuomas Holopainen that continues this brighter sequence of the story, which sees its denouement in the two tracks that conclude this album.

Symphony, rock opera, more surely film music, "Immortals" combines all these elements, mixing classical music, metal and acoustic music, for a successful imaginary journey. We only have to wait for the director who will put all this in images.
