The Frenchmen of Insolvency had launched their career in a very honorable way with "Antagonism Of The Soul", showing good qualities without revolutionizing metalcore but avoiding the repetition. Four years later, the band is back with "Illusional Gates", which we expect to transform the test and allow them to go further.
In the first half of the record, Insolvency unfolds his metalcore and shows itself inspired and efficient: 'Blindness', 'Torn Away Inside' as well as 'Last Call' are incisive and powerful with a strong growl and a sustained rhythm. In parallel we find the typical clear vocals, guitar and keyboard melodies and some atmospheric and catchy quiet passages. The presence of Ryan Kirby from Fit For A King on 'The Endless Maze' brings a melodic strength in addition to the growl.
The second half of the album sees the band vary the tone, 'Another Fate' and 'Strange World' are very melodic with the clear vocals for a seductive result. The death passages are in the background and bring the necessary power. These tracks have a certain commercial potential. Oversight' and 'Smother The Candle' are two merciless slaps in the face in the form of an adrenaline discharge, the second track benefiting from the presence of CJ McMahon from Thy Art Is Murder.
With "Illusional Gates", Insolvency confirms the hopes placed in him. He signs a record that will delight the fans of a sound knowing how to be powerful and melodic. The band shows that they know how to go beyond the classic metalcore with a very interesting variety of tone.
