A few years ago, on a beautiful evening on TV, Jean-François Zygel invited in his "Boite à Musique" a duet with a strange instrument coming from the Nordic countries, the Nickelharpa, thus giving a unique opportunity to Octantrion to make discover its music to the televiewers immediately conquered by this strange mixture of violin and hurdy-gurdy. For this second album composed around the theme of the raven, symbol of the Nordic/Viking pagan cultures, and presenting both arrangements of traditional titles and original compositions, the duo formed by Eléonore Billy and Gaëdic Chambrier was surrounded by six additional musicians, among whom we note the presence of Cécile Corbel and her harp.

It is however a cappella with vocal harmonies which are superimposed that opens this new opus, before the various string instruments come to enrich a score which will remind the great hours of Malicorne. The following tracks are presented under a similar construction with a music showing few changes of tonality, whose melody proposes a repetition of motives endowed with subtle rhythmic and melodic variations which little by little make rise an irrepressible desire to dance ('Hugin', 'Strömkarlen Spelar'). At the exact opposite of these various instrumental pieces which are not without evoking in their structure the medieval music, 'The Dead King' takes us as in a throbbing and languorous rhythmic with jazzy accents, the whole in a tasty atmosphere of corner of fire.

As the minutes go by, we let ourselves be carried away in this particular universe designed by formidable instrumentalists whose approach, even if the rendering proves to be different, evokes another well known and appreciated duo in our columns, namely Dead Can Dance. Music lovers, you who are open to diversity, rush on "II". No doubt that Octantrion will know how to regale your mind.
