My first one is the son of a heavy metal singer more than respected, my second one represents the 3/5th of a hard FM band in vogue and my third one recovers the guitarist of Vega to propose a first album more interesting than what this first one augurs: Life Of A Hero.

From the very first bars of '3D', we can tell that the musicians of Midnite City, "my second", have decided to take a lot of pleasure in getting out of their 80's comfort zone by accompanying the warm voice of Russ Grimmett, "my first" and son of Steve Grimmett, eminent singer of Grim Reaper and Lionsheart, among others.

If the subject matter remains catchy, with catchy choruses and melodies sometimes allowing themselves the luxury of being unstoppable, the repertoire is more modern than the 80's glam imagined and shows that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Produced by drummer Pete Newdeck, like the Midnite City opuses, the record unveils club anthem after club anthem, giving a furious desire to headbang while singing in unison with this frontman who has no reason to be ashamed of his illustrious ancestry.

'In My Dreams', 'Down And Out', 'Risk It All' or the title track give off an unstoppable positivism and an uninhibited attitude that just needs to gather new followers because if the band members have become -thanks to this record- the heroes of their own lives, it's up to the listener to make them his own.

Finally, if "Letting Go" is a good prologue, we will wait for the following chapters to really let ourselves go. The protagonists seem endearing, the pitfalls numerous, the hymns incipient but one feels that the journey of this new community is only in its infancy.

A record where you are the hero? It's up to you to roll the dice.
