DEAD TREE SEEDS: Push The Button (THRASH): review / opinion to read on Music Waves

Dead Tree Seeds comes from Paris. It was born under the impulse of Alexandre Prudent in 2009 after the split of Triakanthos. After an album released in 2013, the second one comes after the band went through some changes including the arrival of Frank on the mic in 2018. "Push The Button" was released in 2020 but the pandemic made it almost unnoticed. The band is re-launching its promotion, just so it doesn't spoil its work.

Illustrating the decadence of our society with a striking cover, "Push The Button" confirms the band's love for an old-fashioned thrash between Slayer, Testament and the Metallica of the early days. Dead Tree Seeds serves us a burning but never linear album and avoids the pitfall of repetition by offering an anthology of the genre. He throws tracks with an intense rhythm, with a rage in the vocals of a possessed Frank and supersonic riffs and soli ('Thru God for Vengeance', 'Fangs of The White Wolf', 'Wailing Wall', 'Abjection'). This ferocity is pleasant with its old school 80's side and its nice freshness.

'No Time To Complain' and 'Shotdead' are two more nuanced tracks. These long pieces alternate the ambiences and air the record, finding the idea of Metallica's or Slayer's convoluted tracks. The ferocity and the snarling vocals at the limits of the growl rub shoulders with good aerial breaks and long melodic and epic instrumental parts. 'The Way To Eternity' cuts the two sides of the record with a melancholy worthy of Iron Maiden. Finally 'Push The Button' adds a dose of mosh, between Anthrax and Suicidal Tendencies.

With "Push The Button", Dead Tree Seeds is a nice craftsman of an old-fashioned thrash, always as powerful, raging and varied. - Official website
