After having dazzled us with the already magnificent " Soulrain 21 " in homage to the 13 victims of a tragic bus accident which took place on the lands of origin of the members of Wastefall, the Greeks push the process further by offering us a 3rd opus with even more complex, tortured and heavy compositions...

The affiliation to Pain of Salvation is always de rigueur as Domenik Papaemmanouil officiates in a register close to Daniel Gildenlow and the band gratifies us with a melancholic metal prog on which the power of the riffs is inescapable and takes you to the guts from the first notes to let you go only 58 minutes later.

From the introductory groans, we enter a particularly tormented universe with "Willow Man", progressive metal archetype followed by two fabulous tracks, the terribly bewitching "Sleepwalk" with its choruses of plaintive female angels alternating with sobs, and the splendid "4 Minutes to Abandon" whose voice / acoustic guitar duo makes Papaemmanouil's talent burst. The shiver runs through your spine, especially at the end when the vocals are superimposed. Difficult to follow such a masterpiece and this will be the only downside of this opus, namely that it ends on a "Provoke the Divine" which although of very good workmanship is not transcendent.

"Self Exile" is thus a clever alternation of controlled aggressiveness and melancholic passages associated with melodies that stick to you, a will to keep a course and a melodic thread to hold in breath the listener. An album to be placed among the best releases of 2006!

ARENA: Contagium (2003)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - With the release of this last fragment, amateurs can reconstitute the magnificent ensemble that is "Contagion" in its complete version.
AYREON: Actual Fantasy Revisited (1996)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - Actual Fantasy probably doesn't have the impact of a Dream Sequencer or an Electric Castle but remains of an excellent level,
