Temple Balls is a Finnish quintet that started to make a name for itself in 2016 with a few well-received singles. The five musicians had the honor of touring with some big names that some older bands could never afford (Deep Purple, Queen and Uriah Heep). After two albums released in 2017 ("Traded Dreams") and 2019 ("Untamed"), 2021 sees the arrival of their third production called "Pyromade".

In order to stand out from the numerous bands that evolve in the Hard Rock universe, Temple Balls decided to mix genres. Thus, this "Pyromade" offers a clever patchwork of melodic hard rock, sometimes metal, hard FM, even pop, sleaze and glam. The riffs are generous and the rhythmic is dynamic. The intensity and the enthusiasm are largely of setting, guided by Arde Teronen, a frontman asserted and convinced whose voice borrows sometimes to the screamo scene, to support the energetic intentions of the tracks. Don't look for the synths, the impasse was made on their use, contrary to the choruses which cheerfully scatter the tracks.

The references to the American sounds of the 80's are obvious and the anthems are legion. Dynamic, energetic and full of testosterone, the guys play tracks that take us back to some old acquaintances like Wig Wam, The Poodles, H.E.AT., Quiet Riot, Mötley Crüe and so many others. From the explosive single 'Thunder From The North', where Teronen screams like a madman, to the energetic 'T.O.C.T.', through the pop, even dance (!) 'Bad Bad Bad', the semi-ballad 'If Only I Could' and the galvanizing 'Heart Of A Warrior', which starts like Ten, everything is prepared to lead the audience into a saraband full of good mood.

Finland has once again pulled out an asset card from its sleeve. Lovers of energetic and simple pieces, run to serve you a bier and put in your ears the hymns of this "Pyromade". You won't regret it.

OTHER REVIEWS
BLAZE BAYLEY: War Within Me (2021)
HEAVY METAL - "War Within Me" is a solid album of classic heavy metal. Blaze Bailey finds the best of the genre with power, epic force and a beautiful sensitivity.
CHEST ROCKWELL: The Existentialist (2021)
ALTERNATIVE ROCK - Chest Rockwell continues its productive momentum with a stoner/garage rock that hits the spot but would have deserved a better production.
