"With a largely renewed line-up, Nervosa returns to a Thrash sound for a result of a rare intensity, a perfect mix between Kreator and Slayer."

With "Downfall Of Mankind", the Brazilian women of Nervosa had gone out of their comfort zone, moving away from thrash to a very dark, rough and hateful death metal. The risk-taking was commendable and the album offered a pessimistic message ahead of its time. But the risk didn't pay off and the record hardly found its audience. The band finally exploded, singer and bassist Fernanda Lira left, as did Luana Dameto, with Prika Amaral at the helm alone.

But this did not scare her, quickly getting the machine back on track with the arrival of three new mates, including Diva Satanica on vocals and Mia Wallace who played with Abbath on bass. The result is "Perpetual Chaos", a fourth album with themes as committed as ever. Nervosa criticizes a society in perdition in his country and is the spokesman of minorities against capitalism and big industries.

In thirteen tracks the band reconnect with thrash for an impressive result. Diva screams its rage, evoking both Kreator and Slayer with many unstoppable refrains. The tempo is fast, carried by a Piktra in a state of grace who swings riffs and crazy solos. The record goes at lightning speed and is very homogeneous. In this whirlwind emerge 'Venomus', 'People Of The Abyss' or 'Until The Very End' for their furious and speedy side. Even more speed and worthy of Motörhead, 'Time To Fight' and 'Rebel Soul' ravage everything in their path, with Erik A Knutson (Flotsam & Jetsam) offering a high-flying vocal duo on the second track. A'Guided By Evil', 'Godless Prisoner' and 'Under Ruins' bring a darker, more haunting side to the album, with a deep vocals and a beautiful alternation between speed and threatening heaviness.

With 'Perpetual Chaos', Nervosa strikes a huge blow. The new line-up has already found its marks and signs a remarkable opus from beginning to end, cut in the best of a high-flying thrash that has everything to delight fans of the genre.

POP - "The Darkest Skies Are The Brightest" is a melancholic and luminous album, a parenthesis of softness carried by the charming voice of a great interpreter.
