The solo project of Erik Modin, drummer of Wigelius, became reality in 2013 and was named Wildness. The first opus of the combo offered a convincing and very energetic melodic hard rock score. Today we are given to witness the birth of its successor, an "Ultimate Demise" that we hope will be as melodically robust as its elder.

The pair of guitarists on the original opus is still in business. On the other hand, Adam Holström and Pontus Sköld lost their colleague Gabriel Lindmark on the road last year due to musical discrepancies, the latter having left the microphone to Erik Forsberg, former singer of Blazon Stone, a Swedish power metal band. But, if the new voice of the band is significantly different from that of its predecessor, the band's style remains almost the same. Almost, because it is now the German combo Pink Cream 69 that comes to mind when listening to this "Ultimate Demise".

Wildness offers song after song of unstoppable melodic titles sometimes at the limit of metal. 'Die Young', composed in memory of a friend of the band who committed suicide, sends riffs worthy of Accept. 'Cold Words', about an alien invasion (!), has nothing to envy him. The guitars are less sharp but heavier and the melody is captivating. 'Renegades Of Love' is a thunderous metallic hard FM track but you will be able to enjoy too an acoustic-electric hybrid, half hard rock/half AOR, with 'Bordeline' and its superb backing vocals. Let's save the best for the end with the eponymous title, a Celtic ballad guided by keyboards that will get you high.

Wildness, it's rhythm, power, omnipresent six-strings, melodic talent and sensitivity. Music Waves did not make a mistake in directing the spotlight on the combo's first album. Indeed, the Swedes have earned our trust and are now talentedly repeating themselves with this second attempt, even managing to raise their level of playing here.
